There is actually no sign hinting at your baby’s being ready for the kindergarten. As I was a kid of three, my parents simply took me to the kindergarten, and it was a great shock for me, but then I got used to it. I loved the kindergarten, and I am thankful to my parents for taking me there, but, still, what they did is definitely not the best approach towards a kid who’s used to seeing their mom and dad all day long. Kindergarten is a great place for the kid, but he needs to be prepared for it, which, basically, for the most part depends on the parents. What to do?

Does your baby like communicating? Does he easily deal with others? Pay attention to how he deals and how he feels with the guests. At first, he will avoid them (so does every kid). So it’s important to see how he acts afterward. If he establishes friendly approach, then he will do the same with the kids in the kindergarten, if he doesn’t, then he will definitely have hard time in dealing with them, and that fact already will cause lots of difficulties and problems in him, firstly. In this case I would advise you to wait.

Toys can be of much help to you too. If he easily shares his toys and does not get angry and aggressive as you touch or hold them, then he will have great time in the kindergarten.

If you approach your kid and simply say “tomorrow you will go to the kindergarten,” you will definitely scare him to death and also cause negative attitude in him towards that garden. So you have to act smart. Tell him good and funny stories about a garden, where there are many kids who play and laugh all day long, who eat and sleep at the same hour together and who also get to learn lots of things. Try to describe that garden it as merry and cheerful as possible. That way you will greatly motivate him.

Another option is to take your kid there. Do it as if you are taking him to a garden as usual. Again, pay attention to how he behaves. Encourage him to communicate with the nurses and to get involved in the activities and games the rest of the kids play. And then try to see if he would like to go there or not. Don’t ask him in a way as he understands that your visit there was something pre-planned. It will definitely demotivate him.

Educate in your child obedience. Teach him the importance of listening to the elders. He might obey to what you say, but he won’t have enough reason to do so if someone except for you asks him that.

Most grown ups who have attended a kindergarten have mostly sweet memories about that place, those who haven’t always regretfully say “if my parents had only taken me there.” These people don’t or don’t want to understand that they haven’t been taken to the kindergarten because of their personal decision when they were still a kid and pictured that garden as a scary and horrible place. So one thing I advise you to do as a parent is to instil motivation and desire in your kid to go there, be the part of that fairy world and register most sweet and cheerful memories of his life and particularly, childhood.

Unlike the old times today there are various baby skincare products offered. But I advise you to never buy one on your own; always consult a doctor beforehand.

Newborns need effective and attentive skincare because their skin is very soft. Other than that, it’s very fragile, thinner, less oily, less resistant to bacteria and very sensitive to the environment. The skin is the largest organ on the human body and performs various functions important for the health of each person, especially if we are dealing with a baby. Besides, it provides a protective barrier against infections and environmental toxins.

The baby is born with some of his mom’s hormones, which cause minor skin conditions, which, however, disappear very quickly. There are types of skin conditions, which are quite common during childhood but they are not a reason to be strongly concerned about. One common condition is the red rash, which can appear on your baby’s face 2-3 weeks after his birth and disappear a few weeks later. There is also the heat rash that usually features small pink pimples across the body. It’s generally caused by high heat and humidity. I don’t want to go on with the types of skin conditions, instead I’ll introduce several skincare tips you should consider.

Always have your hands washed when touching your baby. Do not work with flowers and then come and hug your baby.

Use cotton wool after bathing your baby. Also, make sure the water is plain.

Your baby should have his separate “everything.” You should not, for example, brush your baby’s hair with the same brush you use for yourself.

Keep the room of your baby very clean. Ventilate is as often as possible to let fresh air in.

Bubble baths are not the best choice for your baby. They often contain detergents, which eliminate bacteria beneficial for the body. They can also cause different infections in baby’s organism. Lavender oil is a better option than any bubble bath. Go for natural things as they are healthy and have a very good smell.

Note that water is sometimes enough to bathe your baby. So you actually don’t need soaps. But if you, after all, think you must use, then at least make sure it contains natural ingredients.

The market is filled with shampoos in most attractive bottles, which always drive attention to them. Nevertheless, don’t give in to that seduction. Babies have very thin hair, therefore they don’t really need shampoos. And again, if you do choose a shampoo, consider one with natural ingredients.

Baby powder is a famous product and is widely used but some powders won’t prove good and harmless for the baby skin. I advise you to choose a powder containing talc.

Hopefully, these tips will help you avoid skincare problems.

One thing to know is newborn hair loss is normal, and you, actually, needn’t worry about that. In general, babies lose their hair during the first six months. This type of hair loss is called telogen effluvium. Interestingly, while many parents are concerned about their baby’s hair loss, others are interested in why their baby was born with much hair. Note that not all babies are bald when they are born. Let’s now analyze the root causes of baby hair loss.

Hormones are the primary cause of hair loss. Before arriving in our world the baby has high levels of hormones in his body from the mother. After he is born, the level of those hormones starts dropping, therefore the hair growth stops. Notably, after losing hair your child may acquire hair completely different from the one he used to have. This especially refers to the color.

Try to control the position your baby likes to sleep in. If you notice your newborn sits, for example, with the back of his head against the baby seat, he will possibly lose his hair exactly in that area. You can help him by changing his position. Many doctors say some babies lose all of their hair, others experience only partial hair loss, while there is also the third group. The babies who belong to that group don’t lose their hair; doctors firmly insist it’s all about genetics.

There are non-common types of hair loss as well. And they demand that you act quick. Physical damage from tight ponytails can cause hair loss — it’s called traction alopecia. Medical conditions like hypothyroidism or hypopituitarism can also cause hair loss. They usually result in complete hair loss on the head. In such cases, the first thing to do is to take the baby to his doctor. He will definitely examine him and give you some trustworthy and effective advice on what to do to prevent further hair loss.

Love for the baby sometimes makes us go crazy as we worry about anything, even a fly seems a beast when it flies too close to him. The universal truth says it’s not right, but the universal truth isn’t a woman to understand what we feel. What I advise you is to learn as much as possible about baby diseases and syndromes. This way you will not only know how to help your baby, but will also know how dangerous they can be.

As to newborn hair loss, you already know it is NORMAL, so breathe easy and concentrate on your baby’s well-being.

Bedwetting is confusing for many parents especially when the child is already three years old, while they should not fall into a panic. Doctors say bedwetting runs in families. It means if your baby pees while sleeping, there’s a big probability that a close relative also used to do it when still a kid. Just like your baby inherits his daddy’s small nose or his mom’s beautiful eyes, he can inherit bedwetting. Some facts will help you have a better idea about this phenomenon. For example, you should know that almost the 15 percent of children continue wetting the bed even after the age of three. Interestingly, boys wet more than girls (though I used to wet until five). In general, bedwetting stops by puberty.

Different kids wet their beds in different frequencies: some wet every single night and others just for several nights. One thing to keep in mind is that your baby doesn’t wet the bed on purpose, so don’t get angry with him and don’t show your anger.

Bedwetting often falls into two categories: primary nocturnal enuresis/this is when the child wets his bed every night or almost every night/, and secondary nocturnal enuresis/ when the child starts wetting his bed after a period of at least six months of persistent dryness/.

Parents can help their children not wet or limit bedwetting by various things. For example, you don’t need to give your child any liquid before sleeping because it’s the first thing contributing to bedwetting. So limit his liquid intake. Encourage your child to go to the bathroom before bedtime. Don’t punish you child, trust me he himself feels shy of his having wetted the bed. Also don’t blame your kid for having forgotten to go to the toilet before gong to bed. Maybe it’s you who should be more attentive to that?

Check out the statistics registered in England and you will understand that this thing is really common:

• 1 in 6 five-year-olds regularly wets the bed (regularly is defined as at least twice a week)
• 1 in 10 seven-year-olds regularly wets the bed
• 1 in 14 10-year-olds regularly wets the bed
• 1 in 100 18-year-olds regularly wets the bed

So this problem is not something dangerous. Just be patient and that temporary inconvenience will come to its reasonable end.

Last week we talked about walking on high heels during pregnancy. Let’s go on and discuss one of the most interesting topics for women: makeup during pregnancy. No surprise pregnancy causes changes on your body but many women don’t want or some even don’t know how to take care of their skin and how to use makeup to avoid problems. A little makeup might help you feel better but remember just a little; you should not cover all your face with makeup materials.

It’s preferable at 24 weeks to get used to a more natural look — since your makeup application time will be seriously compromised once your baby begins his or her more demanding life on the outside. “Any material placed on the skin has the potential to be absorbed into the bloodstream and may be able to cross the placenta, so some caution is warranted,” says Andrew Healy, MD, an obstetrician at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Mass. “However, very few substances are suspected or have been proven to be harmful to a developing pregnancy.”

A number of makeup brands even create makeup materials for pregnant women or just for sensitive skin. They put special stress on different creams, eye liners, skincare liquids to help you not be far from makeup at the same time protecting your skin from dangerous things that can happen. Ask your doctor what you can apply. He will perform several tests and tell you exactly what you should apply or which creams, for example, will not do you any harm.

Wearing makeup while pregnant will make a huge difference. Focus on smoothing out the skin tone with under eye concealer and foundation. Then, use a lipstick in a pink, rose or plum shade to give your face some color. Add a little blush to the apple of each cheek and some eye shadow to your eyelid and highlight the brow. Apply a little eyeliner. Gel liner will be good too. Then, curl your lashes and apply a bit of mascara. This should take less than five minutes. And lastly, put a big smile on your lips and there you are — the most beautiful and gorgeous pregnant woman.

Pregnancy is what every woman should enjoy. Many doctors say it’s not preferable to use makeup during pregnancy because the chemicals they contain are harmful and can cause different problems for a child, others say it’s not preferable to walk on high heels during pregnancy. In this and the upcoming posts we will introduce to you what women can do during pregnancy. And the first topic will discuss is whether women are allowed to wear high heels during their nine amazing months or not.

On the whole, it’s unusual to see a pregnant woman walking on high heels but there are some who can’t imagine themselves wearing something that doesn’t fit into fashion, including high heels. High heels carry one main risk — the risk the woman might lose balance and fall harming both herself and the yet not born baby. The higher the heels are and the skinnier the stiletto is, the more likely the woman is to fall. Long-time high heel wearers might be less prone to missteps as they may be specifically coordinated for heel walking.

Wearing high heels is not the best idea during pregnancy because your weight increases and you can’t just control it. Body shape and gravity center change as well making you walk differently.

Doctor Catherine Lynch recommends that at about 25 weeks you go to a lower heel, especially if you’re experiencing much back pain. Other doctors say since there is extra pressure on the joints during pregnancy, therefore wearing heels aggravates the strain and can result in a number of foot problems. Heels make a pregnant woman vulnerable to accidental spills.

During pregnancy the ligaments that control the back are softened, so it’s dangerous and the risk of being stretched is high. Flat shoes are totally a better choice during pregnancy because they provide great comfort and reduce the strain on the back. If you can’t do without heels, walk a bit on them, but always keep flat shoes to change when you are tired.

One thing you should pay much attention to when pregnant is your and your baby’s health. Remember a pregnant woman is the most beautiful woman in the world, it’s a real blessing, so don’t let the “blessing break into pieces” just because of high heels, you’ll still have much time to wear them, now concentrate on the baby and don’t forget to smile, it will give positive feelings both to you, the baby and people around you.

I wonder if there is at least one person on the planet who hasn’t consumed fast food or who doesn’t love it. But is life all about what we love? Definitely no, we have to be primarily concerned about our health, our biggest treasure. The issue of good and firm health comes forth especially if we are talking about kids and babies. They have to be well and healthily fed. Make this a rule both for you and them. Don’t guide them to fast food, teach them to refrain from it at most, because sometimes what’s learned in early childhood is never forgotten. So take your time and explain to your child that those subtly decorated foods that attract people to them are in reality a garbage for the organism against which sooner or later it starts struggling.

Cook food and don’t order it. Home food is the best way to keep your child as far from future problems as possible. Food cooked at home is if not absolutely, then for 99 percent tasty. But it’s not well decorated unlike the fast food. So as a caring mom you should never ignore the power of food design. You should concentrate on the colors as well. To me, colors are the very first thing capturing attention, and on the whole, that’s what fast food is based on — I can’t recall a kid who could indifferently walk beside those beautiful and I’d even say, tastily looking colors.

Moms have to consider their children’s weight too. Extra weight can cause mental problems in kids and develop low self-esteem. Overweight teens are more vulnerable than lean teens, and once older they will blame their parents for not having forbidden them to enjoy those tasty foods, which resulted in their weight gain. So don’t act as a parent who can’t say “no” to her child simply because she doesn’t want to offend him.

Pay attention to the fact that children need a lot of vitamins, which can be found in different yogurts and fruits, hereby we suggest that you make him love these foods. How? Be an example for him. Children tend to watch and follow their parents in whatever they do.

Make your child love what you prepare for him and all the problems will be easily solved.

Cartoons are the live proofs of our childhood. They educate and keep educating even when we are already adults, hereby their influence on each person needs to be deeply explored. Watching cartoons is a favorite pastime for many children. In general, children start watching cartoons from their six months and by the age of two or three they become fans of this phenomenon. But parents must think of what cartoons their children watch, whether they are really educating or at least entertaining or contain some violence in them. They should also remember that children who watch too many cartoons are more likely to develop mental and emotional problems, which increase the risk of physical problems.

In Japan TV doesn’t show cartoons, which have typical adult themes as they are thought to have bad influence on a child’s brain. The themes of sex, violence or even different spiritual problems used in cartoons are not a good way to explain a child about different problems or topics.

Parents should find time and watch cartoons together with their children in order to explain them why something happened and comment on the characters’ behavior. They should talk to them about the things they liked and disliked in the cartoon and relate them to the real life and world.

Choose cartoons filled with humor. Sometimes such cartoons are the best way to show your child the difference between the good and the bad.

Cartoons are one of the best examples, and in some sense their effectiveness equals to what your child might learn from watching you. So you can twist this fact in your favor. How? For example, if you have been telling him that going to school is fun and also important for him, but what he has been doing so far is ignoring what you say and complaining about school, don’t start yelling and screaming. Point out his favorite cartoon character who loves attending school and doing homework. Be sure this will work better because children try to “follow” the characters they love.

Interestingly, cartoon characters can affect you child’s food choice. Did you get surprised? Well, as they say if you don’t see, it doesn’t mean it’s not there. What I advise you is to be very attentive when entering a shop with your child. You will discover that your child gives preference to the snacks or junk food featuring images of cartoon characters. And it actually doesn’t matter he loves that food or not, he just wants it and will cry until you buy it. So in this regard, you are in a really hard situation, which demands much patience and lots of skills to explain to him how harmful those foods might be for him.

And undoubtedly, you want your child to become a good citizen; cartoons can help you with that task. Just take your time and choose good cartoons, which will not only lift your child’s spirits and fill him with angelic memories, but will also develop a positive attitude towards the world.

Chocolate is something that is surely loved by both adults and children. Eating a lot of chocolate can be harmful, so you have to know how much your baby needs and which kind. Parents are always interested in when they can start giving chocolate to their toddlers. Sweets and candies are what babies love most because they are very attractive and delicious, that’s why having consumed once your baby will beg for more. Remember that though chocolates have many advantages and your baby needs the ingredients they contain, you need to know at which age you can feed your baby with chocolate.

Chocolate allergy is not that spread but still can occur. Though chocolate as a whole is not in the list of food allergies, the ingredients it contains are, so you have to exercise caution. Give your baby chocolate when he is more than one years-old. Notably, in the past years allergic reactions were attributed to chocolate, but they were actually a result of allergy to other ingredients like soy, peanuts, tree nuts and dairy, which usually come with chocolate.

What you should do is be attentive as your child eats chocolate for the first time. If you note any signs of allergy, talk to the doctor who will examine your child and will tell how much chocolate he needs or if he needs it at all or not.

A registered dietitian in Miami Claudia Gonzalez mentions that she always suggests parents holding off on sweets for as long as possible at least until after two years. Children need healthy diet to strengthen the growth of their body so what you give to your child can have an impact on his life.

Never give your babies hard candies before age four because this type of candy can easily cause choking. Small pieces of chocolate that melt in your child’s mouth are fine as a special treat after age two. If you really want to offer your child sweets, stick with ice cream or pudding. At least those treats have some calcium in them.

Be attentive and try to feed your baby with healthy food, which will develop his organism and be useful for him. And take into account that fruits are also very attractive for babies and they don’t understand it’s a fruit or chocolate; they just eat what you suggest them. So suggest healthy food!

We all know and understand the harmful effects of smoking on the body and overall health. The fact you don’t smoke but are among people who continuously smoke is not a less risky threat to your health. For most smokers, tobacco smoke is more dangerous than the nicotine. Long-term inhalation of tobacco smoke exposes every cell of your body to powerful chemicals, which can cause tobacco-related diseases, including cancer and cell mutations. Tobacco smoke from cigarettes, cigars and pipes contains over 4,000 chemical compounds and breathable, suspended particles. Now let’s what can happen if you smoke in surroundings of babies and children.

1. The first harmful thing that can happen is the retarding of growth. Smoking prevents the growth of organism and its development. Smoking puts the oxygen blocker carbon monoxide into the blood that nourishes the baby. Levels of carbon monoxide have been measured at six to seven times higher in the blood of women who are pregnant and smoke.
2. Smoking retards the brain development. Scientists conducted an experiment on animals to ascertain the influence of nicotine on them. They learned that nicotine retards fetal brain growth in animals. Recent studies of smoking mothers’ infants who died in the womb provide insight into how exposure to smoking can injure developing brains. Babies whose mothers smoke during pregnancy are more likely to have diminished arousal from sleep in response to a low-oxygen challenge.
3. Babies with many difficulties. It’s proved that mothers who used to smoke at least a pack of cigarettes a day during pregnancy are nearly three times more likely to have babies with difficulties of breathing.
4. Babies of smoking moms used to be smaller. Babies of smoking mothers end up being smaller and smoking increases the risk of complications of pregnancy that lead to prematurity.
5. Passive smoking is harmful for pregnant women. A study showed a pregnant woman’s exposure to smoke for at least two hours a day doubles her risk of delivering a low birthweight baby.
6. It decreases the probability of pregnancy. Women who used to smoke automatically decrease the pregnancy because the cigarettes harm their organism, therefore many problems can hinder the normal process of pregnancy.

If you don’t want to harm your baby and your one and only goal is to ensure a healthy life for your baby, don’t be selfish and think first of all about your toddler. It’s very important to follow the health rules during pregnancy and after it. Remember that your toddler consumes your milk. I guess there is no need to list the risks your milk might carry for your baby if it is exposed by harmful ingredients. Wish you healthy pregnancy!
